In April 2002 Scott became only the fifth westerner to graduate the world famous JKS Instructors Course.
Over the fifty years since the inauguration of the Instructors Course, the JKA/JKS have bestowed this honour to only a hundred or so people, many of whom have gone on to become the renowned Shotokan masters in the Karate world today.
The graduation ceremony saw the culmination of two years of the most intensive karate training in the world, and has enabled Scott to become one of “the new generation of karate instructors” (Shotokan Karate Magazine, Issue 72).
Building on his European competition success during his university days, Scott travelled to Japan after graduating from Keele University, dedicating five years of his life to learning it’s language, culture and customs, enabling him to fulfil his dream of becoming one of the very few westerners to have completed the course.
He has now returned to Europe, and is based in Dublin, Ireland, where he is the Technical Director of the JKS GB & Ireland. He teaches at 7 dojos in South Dublin and has over 180 students. Scott travels extensively throughout Europe teaching traditional Japanese Shotokan Karate.
